Dear Rick,
finally I am planning to upgrade Web Connection from 6.05 version.
Please, where can I find files and step-by-step instructions for updating? Will migration be difficult?
Do I also need to upgrade to Visual Studio 2010? Would there be any benefit?
Many thanks

For you since you are using the Web Control framework I'm not sure that there will be much benefit upgrading. You do get the infrastructure improvements (better project structure and improved build, publish, deploy) but that doesn't come for free.

Your existing process class code will continue to work but to take advantage of the new features you'll probably will want to create a new project and then import your existing process class(es) and Web content into the new project. That way you get the benefit of all the new framework and infrastructure features, while still being able to use the existing application features with minimal changes.

That said - the Web Control Framework was retired after v7.0. It's still available, and should still work in v8, but I haven't actively tested it in any way shape or form. Heck I'm not sure if I could even offer any support on it at this point.

Latest version of Visual Studio is Visual Studio 2026. I'm not sure if the Web Connection add-in will work in this latest version and it's not required, unless you use the specific integration features.
