I just discovered Node-Red, an IBM open source tool set that is designed to build Node.JS server applications that communicate with real world hardware. In my case, I'm playing around with a Raspberry Pi and a 16 relay HAT. The final application will be to create a webpage that allows me to control the access functionally of an elevator, basically locking out hall and car buttons from accessing restricted floors. Of course, such systems exist in the market but sell for 10's of thousands of dollars and come with mandatory update subscriptions, adding to the overall lifetime cost.
(I guess I should say, I'm cheap when it comes to this sort of expense. grin)
This is a hobby project for me, ...time allowing but Node-Red is a great example of what can be done with a code generation tool (given the resources to develop it).
