Hi All,
I can't seem to get sendmail() or sendmailasync() working with lusessl=.t.. I've tried all kinds of settings and no go; they just timeout (30 sec.). Works fine with port 587 no SSL if I have my VPN off; with VPN, nothing goes. nMailMode set to 0. I use T-Bird as a local mail client whose settings are port 465 with SLL/TLS which works regardless of VPN. Likewise for the Readreceipt.
Context is SMTP in WW Client, VFP 9.2, .NET 7.0 (x86), Win 10,11.
Any ideas or am I missing something?
Thanks.
Luke

What mail server? Could it be that the mail server requires a POP3/IMAP login first before it allows sending? Old mail servers often require this in order to be able to send.
Can't really say - the hanging suggests one of two things:
- Port can't be reached or port is blocked (AV specifically for app)
- Protocol error - see above as one issue
Port blocking via AV and firewall are something to be aware of. You need to be able to punch through the firewall at whatever port you're using and may be a per app thing.

Hi Rick,
Thanks for the response.
I've attached images of the settings: T-Bird client, my application and the service provider. As you can see, they're identical, but the client works, and my app doesn't. With or without AV and/or VPN.
We've tried three different service providers with the same results: pt. 587 no SSL, no problem; pt. 465 with SSL, no msg. This applies to both Sync and Async modes. Async it sends the msg., but it's not received; sync, it hangs.
Is there an additional setting like Auth. Meth. that's missing?
If you like, I can send you our true values and you can test them for yourself.
Thanks.
Luke
If you can send me a private message with account info I can give it a try here...
