Hey everyone, I'm not a Fox programmer, but I've been tasked with trying to find out if VFP6 can be set up to use TLS 1.2 for sending emails. I believe it is currently being handled through the wwipstuff.dll that shipped with VFP6. Due to circumstances beyond my control, the system can't be updated to anything newer at the moment, and Microsoft is going to end all support of TLS 1.0 and 1.1 at the start of the year. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Joe Clark

The issue isn't really VFP 6 but the operating system that you're running under. VFP internally doesn't use anything TLS so it doesn't care. Libraries used might, but the main thing is the Windows OS components.

There's more info in this post here:

As to West Wind tools, all current versions support TLS 1.2. SMTP for encrypted TLS support requires a version that uses the .NET components. I can't remember when those got added, but I think it's about the time the West Wind tools left behind the VFP 6 and 7 (and later 8). All the current tools only support VFP 9.

If you're using 6.0 maybe the old versions (v5) would work, but I don't know... For those old versions perhaps a better choice is something like Chilkat controls.
