Why do you need additional encryption beyond what https already provides? Https provides end to end encryption of content and adding anything on top of that doesn't really provide additional levels of security.

Unless you want to block access to the data altogether except between specific addresses (ie. vpn like access which is likely a better fit in that scneario as it is transparent).
