I decided a while back to change to Microsoft Defender due to the many difficulties I was finding with Symantec Endpoint protection. Yesterday we had an attack. Thankfully my machine does not seem to be affected but it made me want to reevaluate things again. What are you all West Wind message board users doing for malware protection?
Thanks a lot,
Alex
I use Defender, but I'm pretty careful about what I put on my machines...

Thanks for the response Rick. The attack was against Active Directory I am told, I don't know the details.
Looking forward to hear what other West Winders are doing.

Two months ago I switched to Microsoft Defender after paying for and using ESET for years and years after Tamar Granor's recommendation for ESET.
So far, no problems.
In 2019 I configured a new Dell machine remotely for my 88 year old father. He had been using something like WebRoot. I put him on Windows Defender and we've had no problems at all.
Defender seems good enough and the price is right at FREE.
Thanks Jeff. I haven't noticed any problems either, but would like to have some verification that that is the case. Any ideas?
Alex
I certainly cannot quantify the results since all I really can do is provide anecdotal evidence.
You can Google up rankings and ratings of anti-virus software and the results are there.
And as Rick said he's careful as to what he puts on his machine. So, if you do risky things like click attachments and links in emails from strangers and so forth your results may vary.
