I have a lot of documentation in MS-Word (.DOCX) files, and I thought it would be great to put them into a knowledge base using wwHelpBuilder. They are relatively well-structured with standard styles.

So the question is, how can I best get these into Markdown?

  • I tried saving it as HTML from MS-Word and importing that. It sort-of worked, but was a mess, and the pictures didn't come through.

  • So I thought it might be cool if you could create an import from MS-Word. Just an idea for you.

Anyhow, something to add to your to-do list 😃

You can try PanDoc. PanDoc does conversions from various formats to other format and Word and Markdown are among them.

However, if your text has formatting in it (as Word text tends to have) I think that you'll probably end up with HTML markup in the text as well.
