Hello there,

We use Westwind webconnection 5.35 version for one of our application and it has been working well. The application was hosted in Windows 2008 Server. Microsoft is ending its support for Windows 2008 so we are thinking about moving this to Windows 2012 or 2016 server. The original developers for this application are moved on and we don't know much about this framework.

Is it possible to run the WebConnection 5.35 application in Windows 2012 or Windows 2016 server? If yes, how do we need to confiture them.

Or if we upgrade to WebConnection latest framework, do we need to change our code?

What are our best options available? It would be great if you could give us some idea.

Thanks Regards Jai

Web Connection works fine on Server 2012, 2016 and 2019. You can use the existing version or upgrade - either will work. There probably wouldn't be any great advantage to upgrading unless you plan on working with the application more.

Newer versions of Web Connection include auto-configuration features, but that's only for new projects so that likely wouldn't help you unless you upgraded your projects.

Server configuration will have to be done manually. There are instructions on the configuration steps here:

Manual Deployment on a Live Web Server

and, more general IIS configuration information (read through that first, then go through the one above):

IIS Configuration
