We have a new version of Help Builder and imported data from an old version. In the process it lost special Spanish characters á, e', í, ó, ú and ñ.

How do we tell Help Builder about those characters before again importing the data?

TIA,

Alex

Not sure... What are you seeing exactly? Are you talking about the editor or the output/preview?

What does the data look like in the old database? As far as I can tell as long as you are on the right code page those characters should just work. IOW, I can enter the text you provided in the Markdown Editor and it saves the raw data in the DB file if I open it in Fox and look at the memo. IOW, there's there's no translation happening.

If you're having problems with the output, then you need to probably make sure you update your templates. The templates render to UTF-8 and they include the appropriate headers to make that work.

Here is the effect after importing the data.

Thanks,

Alex

What are you importing exactly?

What does the data look like in the editor pre and post export?

I know what the problem is but I don't know where it's originating. The original data is UTF-8 encoded and that's getting pulled into the new project when it shouldn't be.

Hmmm... this might have to do with the old Help Builder format.

Can you create a new topic and use Markdown then paste in the same text. Does that work (I think it would)...

Hmmm... not sure, I don't see the same behavior you are even in Help Builder mode:

Make sure you have the latest version and you probably need to update your templates. You're still using the old templates and there's different behavior with those I bet.
