Web Connection no longer supports Apache. I just realized that the documentation hasn't been fully updated to that effect.

Apache broke their NsAPI recently so the old connectors we were using in the past no longer work. A brief workaround idea was to use the CGI executable, but that's ancient and not really performant on Windows - nor does it work with COM.

IAC - with the current version of Web Connection, Apache will not work. If you have an old installation that uses NsApi 2.2 (I think) that'll still continue to work, but going forward we won't be carrying forward support for Apache for the less than a few people who might be using it.

On Windows Apache simply does not make sense. IIS is installed and secure by default. All of Web Connection's built-in tools can auto configure IIS and configuration is 95% done in a single configuration file.

IAC, sorry - no Apache support any longer...

Here's an update on this issue.

Thanks to some contract work commissioned by one of our Web Connection customers, Apache support has been added back into Web Connection and will be re-enabled in the next update. In addition to making the Apache module work with Apache 2.4x there have also been a handful of improvements that provide better compatibilty with the IIS module behavior. I've also tweaked the set up a bit to provide easier configuration settings based on more recent Apache config changes that make creating of virtuals and script maps a bit cleaner in the configuration.

Thanks to the Web Connection customer for stepping up here - this was not something I was going to spend a fairly large amount of resources on, but with this partial contract support of development time it made it worthwhile. The customer kindly agreed to allow inclusion of the contracted changes into the main product for all of to enjoy.

Anyway - look for the Apache functionality to be back in post WWWC 6.17 releases.
