Why do the jQuery menus stay open? Shouldn't they close after executing the instructions?

First I pick a menu option:

That opens a modal form. But notice the menu still active in the background:

Then when the modal form is "released", the menu dropdown still is dropped down. It closes if I click somewhere open on the screen, but shouldn't it close by itself?

Which FAS version? (Menus are under rework for bootstrap support)
